Hi! I'm Alice Schroers and I love flowers. My appreciation of flowers first began just under a decade ago when I saw my first shrimp plant. It was at a stage of my life when I had been through a difficult time. When I saw the flowers on this plant I marveled at their resemblance to prawns in colour and shape and I laughed. What a fun flower! I hope you'll enjoy this blog as I use it to remember to enjoy the small things.
I had a lovely afternoon today enjoying the display at the Grounds of Alexandria. Their Winter Wonderland display was rather magical - glittering chandeliers, sparkling icicles, soft white 'snow' and bunches of beautiful flowers amidst white magnolias and larger-than-life painted poppies - but my favourite part of the Grounds was actually the Potting Shed. As I rounded the corner to leave the display I found a very cute sign which read "Please wait to be planted". It was for visitors to the restaurant, but today it felt like a very apt moment as I'm between locations, waiting to be planted, just like the potted plants around the front counter.
So...you might have worked out from my posts already that I have a love of flowers, but no idea what their scientific names are. So if you happen to know the scientific names of the flowers I am posting, please feel free to comment! I think this is a type of wattle, but for the moment I'm just going to put it out there that I love this little flower because of its cute fluffy pompoms of yellow happiness!
I think it looks like a spider!
ReplyDeleteWell Alice it is commonly known as the grey spider 🕷️ flower or Grevillea buxifolia.
ReplyDeleteApparently I'm not the only one who feels that way about it's fluffy looking 'legs' then! The Latin name is pretty fun to say too! Thanks Katness!
