Roots

Image
This flower reminds me of my roots. I don't know its name but to me it's called "Nostalgia" because it conjures up memories of my childhood. I often used to play among flowers like this one after school with my best friend.

Colour splash

This floral find in a friend's backyard was a perfect way to end a beautiful day and my first week of flower blogging. What a fun splash of colour in a vibrant hanging pot of purple flowers!

White bouquet

I was admiring a beautiful bouquet today.  How amazingly diverse are flowers?! Even when you consider all the variations of white flowers, there's so much creative beauty in the arrangement and number of petals, their size and shape, their other components such as leaves, stems etc... Whether it's six petals or multiple petals, aren't they just gorgeous?!

Mimicry

I found this fun flower on a bushwalk the other day. To be honest when I saw it, it gave me the heebie-jeebies. I think it mimics a creepy crawly very well. What insect does it remind you of?

Flower enthusiast but not a botanist

So...you might have worked out from my posts already that I have a love of flowers, but no idea what their scientific names are. So if you happen to know the scientific names of the flowers I am posting, please feel free to comment! I think this is a type of wattle, but for the moment I'm just going to put it out there that I love this little flower because of its cute fluffy pompoms of yellow happiness!

New buds

Image
Good morning world! As I enjoyed the crisp air and early morning sunshine on a walk with friends this morning, I found a flower that epitomised the start of a new day. I'm so grateful for new buds and fresh starts.

Waiting to be planted

Image
I had a lovely afternoon today enjoying the display at the Grounds of Alexandria. Their Winter Wonderland display was rather magical - glittering chandeliers, sparkling icicles, soft white 'snow' and bunches of beautiful flowers amidst white magnolias and larger-than-life painted poppies - but my favourite part of the Grounds was actually the Potting Shed. As I rounded the corner to leave the display I found a very cute sign which read "Please wait to be planted". It was for visitors to the restaurant, but today it felt like a very apt moment as I'm between locations, waiting to be planted, just like the potted plants around the front counter.

About me

Image
Hi! I'm Alice Schroers and I love flowers. My appreciation of flowers first began just under a decade ago when I saw my first shrimp plant. It was at a stage of my life when I had been through a difficult time. When I saw the flowers on this plant I marveled at their resemblance to prawns in colour and shape and I laughed. What a fun flower! I hope you'll enjoy this blog as I use it to remember to enjoy the small things.
