Rain

Image
It's been pretty stormy lately. I've been learning to give thanks in the rain. This little flower put a smile on my face on a cloudy day.

Complementary colours

Image
I was heading to the postbox yesterday and spotted this giant plant along the walkway with its gorgeous orange flowers. They almost look like inedible pineapples with their tropical themed array of petals protruding from spiky green bases. Set against the bright blue sky, I was reminded that complementary colours enhance one another. What a brilliant, bright coloured plant!

Stars

Image
I love metaphors. This flower provided a visual metaphor of the evening sky as the daylight faded and the first stars began to shine forth from the darkness. As these beautiful, white, five-pointed flowers hung in the crisp evening air, they reminded me of the stars twinkling from their places in the night sky.

Roots

This flower reminds me of my roots. I don't know its name but to me it's called "Nostalgia" because it conjures up memories of my childhood. I often used to play among flowers like this one after school with my best friend.

Colour splash

This floral find in a friend's backyard was a perfect way to end a beautiful day and my first week of flower blogging. What a fun splash of colour in a vibrant hanging pot of purple flowers!

White bouquet

Image
I was admiring a beautiful bouquet today.  How amazingly diverse are flowers?! Even when you consider all the variations of white flowers, there's so much creative beauty in the arrangement and number of petals, their size and shape, their other components such as leaves, stems etc... Whether it's six petals or multiple petals, aren't they just gorgeous?!

Mimicry

Image
I found this fun flower on a bushwalk the other day. To be honest when I saw it, it gave me the heebie-jeebies. I think it mimics a creepy crawly very well. What insect does it remind you of?
